Since 1970, VCS Inc., a non-profit organization located in Rockland County, New York, has provided continuous service and programs throughout Rockland County and in other areas as determined by the needs of the community.
VCS Inc. was formally known as Volunteer Counseling Service of Rockland County Inc. The name was changed after the agency saw many years of growth and the development of a vast array of services that were beyond the scope of the original model.
Our Vision
The VCS vision is to expand our reach, share our expertise, and strengthen partnerships to deliver the support people need to thrive; to champion the premise that mental healthcare is healthcare, ensuring equitable access to quality services for all.

These are strong VCS values. Since our inception, we have practiced through an anti-racist and social justice lens. We believe that DEI & B work must offer education and provide an atmosphere of respect and inquisitiveness. We will move beyond “tolerance” to “acceptance”; from a “sanitized” environment to an environment that “honors” everyone. We will continue to expand our staff and volunteer trainings through a collaboration with NYAPRS that will focus on all areas of DEI work. We will also continue our focus on recruiting and retaining our dynamic and exceptional staff so as to represent the diverse community in which we service.
