Groups that meet at VCS now have attendance limitations as advised by the County to maintain the safety and well-being of our clients and staff.

​Support Groups for Caregivers of Older Adults

If you are concerned about an aging parent, spouse or other relative, VCS provides three weekly support groups. In these groups you will receive information, resources and alternatives for meeting the challenges associated with aging parents and relatives. These one hour groups are held on Monday mornings at 10am, Wednesday mornings at 10:50am at VCS in New City. An additional group on Tuesday evenings at 5pm is available via Zoom. All are welcome. ​Life Transitions Group

Older adults aging in place face changes that require good coping skills and mutual support from others. This group is a dynamic safe place for older adults to develop new relationships and learn from one another how to face life’s most difficult changes. Updated information, guest speakers and peer support are offered.

This one hour group is held Monday mornings from 11:00am to 12:00pm at VCS in New City. This group is held simultaneously in-person and via zoom.

Support and Discussion Group for Relatives Raising Children (RAPP)
(Groups in English & Spanish)
In person group meetings for Spanish speakers has resumed. Groups in English are still happening remotely. Please check back for updates.

The Relatives as Parents Program is an open support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren or any other person raising the child of a relative. The group is a place to share the challenges and experiences with your peers. The group is free to attend and runs on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month from 12:00-1:00pm via Zoom. Peer Support Group - Haverstraw, NY

Across the life cycle older adults experience physical or emotional challenges with the need to have a safe confidential space to process and learn from others in similar circumstances. This weekly peer support group will help increase social support, connections and resiliency as you age in place.

Thursdays in person 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Located at Haverstraw Place 140 RTE 9W #1, Haverstraw NY 10927
Open to all residents at Haverstraw Place only.

Peer Support Group - Pearl River, NY

The residents of the Promenade at Blue Hill have the opportunity to provide peer support to each other on Wednesday 3 pm – 4 pm in the lounge.

Wednesdays in person 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Located at Promenade at Blue Hill 582 Memorial Drive, Pearl River, NY 10965
Open to all residents at Promenade at Blue Hill only.

Contributions are voluntary and confidential and are used to expand the services for which they are received.  No one will be denied services because of an inability or unwillingness to contribute.  Suggested contributions level equal to the cost of the service for participants who self-disclose income at or above 185% of Federal Poverty Level. Services are funded in part by the Administration for Community Living, New York State Office for the Aging and the Rockland County Office for the Aging.
