Access Services Specifically for Older Adults

Volunteer Counseling Service > Access Services Specifically for Older Adults

The Older Adults Program at VCS serves individuals in Rockland County above the age of 60, as well as their family members. Thanks to generous funding from the County, services are entirely free for all participants! The two primary services are 1-on-1 counseling (separate from our Clinic and Wellness Coaching programs) and support groups. Currently, we do not perform home visits in this program.

1-on-1 Counseling

At VCS, we understand that with aging comes changes to our bodies, our minds, our circumstances, and to those around us. These changes can be difficult to deal with or challenging to understand, which is why this program exists.

This program serves older adult residents of Rockland County who would benefit from discussing age related concerns with a trained counselor. One-on-one counseling sessions may be in-office, virtual, or at public venues such as a park, library, etc.

Support Groups - Caregiver Support Group

The VCS Caregiver Support Groups provide resources for individuals who are caregivers for another adult. The group is a safe space to share tips, resources, and strategies with others in the same role, and also to speak openly about your experiences.

Currently, the group is running only once a week, but check back regularly because new groups are being added regularly. The group is held on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the VCS office in New City, and is free to attend!
