Families in Need of Support (FINS)
FINS is a VCS Program funded by the Rockland County Youth Bureau and The United Way and operates in schools throughout Rockland County. FINS provides intensive counseling and case management (linking to vocational and academic planning and school/community recreational activities etc.) for middle and high school students and their families who are in some distress (identified through high absence rates, behavioral problems, slipping grades or other indicators of problems). The program aims to identify and address the causes of distress, and to support the student in their schooling and relationship with their family. FINS provides twice-weekly individual counseling sessions for the student at their school from the point of intake through the end of the school year, and also works with the student’s parents or caregivers.

VCS Rockland Student Advocacy Program
The Rockland Student Advocacy Program offers information, support and direct advocacy regarding educational rights and responsibilities to parents/guardians living in Rockland County. This program offers help to parents/guardians of children with special needs in understanding the special education process and how to communicate effectively with their respective school districts. Presentations and advocacy are also offered to other Rockland agencies that support children and families. The program serves school-age children up to age 20.
